Enjoy large floor-to-ceiling windows throughout the kitchen and living room with a cozy wood burning fire—it’s like being out in nature. Kitchen
Fully equipped kitchen (fridge, oven/stove, microwave, and dishwasher) with all cooking basics included (pots, pans, blender, water dispenser, salt and pepper, oil, etc.). Enjoy your morning coffee and tea your way with the provided french press, drip coffee maker, Nespresso, and hot water kettle.
Bedrooms
The Oaken can sleep a maximum of up to eight people. The cabin has a master bedroom with a queen-sized bed and private closet. The second bedroom, found in the basement, has a double bed and two single bunks. There’s also a loft office space with a sofa bed for extra sleeping arrangements. All essentials are provided for a good night’s sleep (bed linens with extra pillows and blankets), even room-darkening shades!
Bathroom
Enjoy a spa-like feeling in the luxurious three-piece bathroom. We’ve created an environment that caters to your senses and promotes relaxation with a spacious walk-in shower, freestanding soaker tub, and heated floor. Plush towels, bathrobes, hair dryer, and bath products (shampoo, conditioner, body gel, and lotion) are provided along with essential oils, scented candles, and bath salts for aromatherapy.
Comfort & Cooling
Fully outfitted with AC for the warmer months and radiant floor and baseboard heating for when it’s cooler. The Oaken also has an indoor wood-burning fireplace for when you want to get really cozy (please follow the provided instructions and safety measures carefully).
Entertainment
Fully-finished basement with games room, TV with streaming services (Netflix, Disney+, and Prime TV), board games, and portable Bluetooth sound speaker.
Laundry
Enjoy access to a washer and dryer with all essentials provided (including an iron with ironing board).
Family Accommodations
Travel crib and high chair can be provided upon request. The cabin is also stocked with books, games, and crafts.
Outdoor Areas
Enjoy outdoor cooking and dining on the patio with a propane BBQ grill. The cabin also boasts a rooftop terrace and private backyard with a fire pit, outdoor furniture, and play structure for the kids!
Parking, Safety & Security
The Oaken offers free parking on the premises and can accommodate up to six vehicles. Guests can even charge their electric vehicles on the property with the provided EV charger.
Safety
We ensure guest privacy and safety. The property is outfitted with a security camera that overlooks the front door, parking area, and front yard. There is a sound monitoring device that detects and alerts us of high noise levels but DOES NOT record any conversations. The Oaken also has a smoke and carbon monoxide alarm, fire extinguisher, and first aid kit in the case of an emergency.
Security
We offer self check-in with a keypad and personal code so that you can arrive and depart at your convenience (you will be given the code on the day of your arrival).
Pets Welcome
We know that getaways are better with your furry companions! The Oaken welcomes dogs so they can enjoy the adventure with you. To ensure a comfortable stay for all guests, we have a clear pet policy in place, including breed, size, and number limitations depending on the type of dog. Please review our pet rules before booking to ensure a smooth and relaxing stay for both you and your pet.
House Rules
- Check-in time is 4pm and check-out time is 11 am (we offer luggage drop-off for guests that have an early arrival or late departure)
- Quiet hours are between 11pm-7am (no excessive outside noise or music between this time)
- No more than eight guests are allowed on the property at all times (no parties or events)
- No smoking or vaping in the house
- No shoes in the house
Failure to respect these rules will result in the termination of your stay and the forfeit of the security deposit. You must provide at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel your stay penalty-free. This cancellation policy applies even in cases of illness or disruptions caused by COVID-19.

- Is The Oaken close to Ottawa? Wakefield is approximately 35km from downtown Ottawa (about a 30 minute drive). To get to Wakefield, you’ll:
1. Take King Edward Avenue or Sussex Drive to the Macdonald-Cartier Bridge
2. Merge onto Autoroute 5 N and take exit 28
3. Follow Chem. de la Vall. de Wakefield to Chem. Riverside - Is there a minimum stay length? Guests are required to book a minimum stay of one month (30 days). Please contact us directly for any short-term inquiries and we will be glad to assist you.
