Looking for an outdoor adventure? There’s so much to do, no matter what season!
- Camp Fortune: This local ski hill consists of 18 runs (13 with night skiing) and is open for mountain biking, ziplining, and an aerial park during the warmer months.
- Gatineau Park: Hundreds of kilometres of hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and bike trails, as well as countless paddling destinations.
- Great Canadian Bungee: Home of “The Rock”, the highest bungee jump site in Canada, providing a destination for the thrill seekers out there.
- Larrimac Golf & Tennis Club: Offering a nine-hole golf course with lush fairways surrounded by the picturesque nature of Gatineau Park as well as facilities for tennis, pickle-ball, and disc golf.
- Lusk Cave: An active cave formed over 11,000 years ago with explorable tunnels and a stream that still flows through it continuing to erode the soluble marble that forms the walls.
- Paddlefit: Offers classes and rentals to explore an array of board sports (including standup paddleboarding, SUP surfing, SUP yoga, SUP skills, and wing foiling).
- Meech Lake: With two beaches (O’Brien and Blanchet), this a popular swimming, canoeing, and destination offering lots of hiking trails as well.
Local History
Take in the local history by exploring some of these notable destinations.
- Carbide Willson Ruins: Nestled in a forest near Meech Lake, the ruins have a unique history with only the foundation remaining from the original fertilizer plant that makes up this industrial heritage site.
- Chelsea Pioneer Cemetery: Dating back to the late 1800s, this cemetery is the site of Private Richard Rowland Thompson’s tombstone which was highlighted by the Queen’s scarf of honour (only eight in the entire world).
- Mackenzie King Estate: Explore this historic estate that’s open year-round with gardens, ruins, and trails, once owned by Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King.
- Old Chelsea Protestant Burial Ground: This historical site is home to more than 200 graves with several family lots and uniquely arranged monuments.
